-jam- my goodness
Goodness me… It’s been quite awhile since I last blogged. Christmas and New Year have come and gone. Let’s all make 2006 an unforgettable year!
Friends have asked me what my new year resolution is. Well, I guess for the new year, I must learn how to be a super calm and composed person. (I kinda have a bad assed temper… only cella gets all, sad to say)
Since I’m blogging on resolutions, let me just add a little piece of food for thought here.
Many people make resolutions. They tell everybody that they will stop. You know, stop smoking, stop splurging money on nonsense items and stop procrastinating. And that they will start - start studying harder, start looking for other ways to make money, start losing weight. But, let’s just stop here and ask yourself this. Are you getting anywhere with those resolutions? Don’t we go on making the same resolutions year after year?
Sure. You just might be able to go 1 or 2 months without that supper at night, or you just might be able to control your expenses. Hurray! But then you start thinking to yourself. ‘Who am I trying to kid?’. ‘Why can’t I reward myself for all that hard work?’. And believe me, very soon, you’ll be doing what you used to do. Sounds familiar?
This may sound very new to you but I have found a way to help you stick to your resolutions forever! Yes, you heard me right! Forever!
I have found that if you attach a ‘why must I change’ to your resolution, you’ll most probably stick to it. For instance, if you really want to stop smoking, you have to also ask yourself ‘Why must I stop smoking?’ Then you’ll have to write down 20 reasons that you will come up with. Sounds challenging? Maybe. But I guarantee you that the 30mins sitting down and doing this short little exercise will benefit you. And you’ll only have yourself to thank!
Hope you found that little question useful. ‘Why must I change?!’
Signing off and wishing you a glorious new year.
